Two wounded in Tree of Life shooting moved out of ICU

Third victim remains in stable condition

Two of the six people wounded in Saturday’s mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill have been moved out of intensive care, UPMC said Friday.

Daniel Leger, 70, and a 40-year-old male police officer are now in stable condition at UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland after having been moved from ICU to regular patient rooms.

Another person who was wounded — 61-year-old Andrea Wedner, whose 97-year-old mother, Rose Mallinger, was killed in the attack — remains in stable condition, the hospital said.

The three others injured in the attack were previously discharged. Four police officers were among those with gunshot wounds.

Worshipers embrace before the start of the Shabbat service, Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at Congregation Rodef Shalom in Shadyside. The Shabbat service, the first since the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue, was open to people of all faiths.
