Woman jailed after fatal accident at Delmont Walmart

The woman facing charges of homicide by vehicle and DUI after the death of a woman hit by a pickup truck in the Delmont Walmart Friday remains in custody Saturday at the Westmoreland County Prison, according to prison officials.

In a report from the Post-Gazette news partner KDKA, Wendy Shumaker, 49, was arrested by Murrysville police, who said an eyewitness said he had to yell at Ms. Shumaker to stop after she drove over the victim twice.

KDKA reported that police said Ms. Shumaker was driving a white pickup truck and ran over an elderly woman in the crosswalk of the Walmart parking lot. Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Gail Rohrbacher, 82, of Delmont. After the incident, which happened around 2 p.m., Ms. Rohrbacher was taken to Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, where she died.
