One dead, another injured when large fight erupts into gunfire in McKeesport

A teenager was shot to death and a passer-by was injured when a fight between two groups erupted into gunfire in McKeesport late Tuesday night, Allegheny County police said.

McKeesport police responded to Sumac Street and Forbes Alley around 10 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a person — identified as 17-year-old Khaire Cole — with a gunshot wound to the head lying on the front porch of a house in the 1500 block of Sumac Street, county police said.

Khair was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after.

Another person was found shot in the leg and was in stable condition at a local hospital.

Police said the other victim was passing by when he was shot.

No arrests have been made.

Police said surveillance video showed two men fleeing the area around the time of the shooting.
