A woman died in a house fire Saturday night in Derry Township, Westmoreland County.
Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV reported that crews got a call just before 5 p.m. about a house fire off Pizza Barn Road.
Crews pulled elderly woman in the living room on the first floor from the fire, but she died on the scene, KDKA reported. Her husband escaped without injury.
It took crews about an hour and a half to get the fire under control.
"Christmas is for joy, not for something like this," Bradenville Fire Chief Mark Piantine told KDKA. "It's going to play on some people's minds for a while, believe me."
The fire marshal said the fire started in the kitchen. The cause is under investigation.
