Officials in Beaver County are advising residents in Potter and Raccoon townships to boil their water before drinking, preparing food, making ice and brushing teeth.
The boil water advisory was issued Sunday after an 8-inch water main broke Saturday along Green Garden Road, resulting in a loss of pressure and emptying of a nearby water storage tank, according to a news release from the Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa. The line was replaced overnight, and water service was restored to affected customers, the release said.
Officials at the water authority anticipate lifting the advisory within 48 hours.
