The six-unit building sustained heavy damage and the roof collapsed.

McKees Rocks fire Chief Nick Radoycis told Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV that a tenant was cooking french fries and fell asleep, sparking the fire.

The Red Cross said 13 adults and nine children have been displaced.
