Police officer sues McKees Rocks

Police officer sues McKees Rocks

A McKees Rocks police officer has sued the borough, saying he was fired for not pursuing cases against nine suspected drunk drivers who were protected by friends in high places.

In a lawsuit filed last week in federal court, Jeffrey Rosenwald claims he was ordered by police officials and the mayor to ignore the cases in November 2001, but was then fired 1 1/2 years later. Rosenwald claims he followed the orders to protect his job and was singled out as the fall guy.

Rosenwald, a McKees Rocks officer from 1995 to last year, is seeking more than $100,000 in damages.

Solicitor John Bacharach said he's confident the borough will successfully defend itself.
