Woman, 23, killed in late-night shooting in McKeesport

A 23-year-old woman was killed in a double shooting in McKeesport Sunday night and a 38-year-old man is in critical condition, according to Allegheny County Police.

Authorities identified the woman Monday afternoon as Samantha Klavora. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office listed her residence as unknown.

The man has not been identified.

The pair were shot in the 1000 block of 5th Avenue in McKeesport around 10:20 p.m., according to police.

Investigators believe the man was the intended target and the woman was wounded because she was standing next to him during the attack.

It’s possible the shooting is retaliation for a previous homicide in McKeesport, Lt. Andrew Schurman said. He did not say which homicide may have prompted the retaliation.

Witnesses reported seeing two or three black males running from the area just after the shooting, he said. Investigators aren’t sure how Ms. Klavora and the 38-year-old man knew each other.

Police ask that anyone with information on the case call the county homicide unit at 412-473-1300.
