Temperatures will inch near the 70-degree mark on Monday for another sunny and warm day in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The forecast calls for a high of 67 degrees — about 15 degrees above average for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. The daily average is 51 degrees.
Sunday’s mild temperatures that ushered in the start of spring over the weekend reached 64 degrees at Pittsburgh International Airport.

It’s a far cry from years past when Pittsburghers were seeing lots of snow in March.
“Three years ago today, things looked much different around here,” the weather service tweeted over the weekend.
The Pittsburgh region saw record snowfall, including 8.7 inches at the weather service office in Moon — a snowfall record for March 21, “beating second place by over 2 inches,” the NWS said.
This week’s warm-up is expected to continue through Thursday, although showers will move in Wednesday evening. Tuesday and Wednesday will see highs in the mid-60s while Thursday could climb to 71 degrees.
In fact, this spring could continue to see unusually high temperatures. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s new U.S. Spring Outlook released Thursday stated that the season may end up feeling more like summer. And that comes after the country saw the coldest February in more than 30 years.
The next best chance for measurable precipitation will arrive Thursday and Thursday night. Lighter amounts are possible on Wednesday but the heaviest rainfall will fall on Thursday. pic.twitter.com/aMKXBjIrgM
