27 charged in narcotics rings in Pittsburgh region

Twenty-seven people have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of trafficking heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine, Acting U.S. Attorney Soo C. Song announced Thursday.

The two separate but related indictments were returned on Tuesday and unsealed today.

Suspects face 5 to 40 years in prison and possible fines of $1 million to $5 million.

The FBI led the multi-agency investigation of this case, which also included the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, the Allegheny County Police Department and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. The investigation was funded by the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program.
