A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for southwestern Pennsylvania.
The advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The thunderstorm watch covers the following counties: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Mercer and Armstrong in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
The Weather Service forecasts storms with gusty winds moving into the area in the afternoon with a high temperature near 84.
The heavy rain is expected to last through the evening hours, with a low of 58.
