Allegheny County unveils app for emergency services

Allegheny County Emergency Services has unveiled a new app for residents to reach the 911 center or report an emergency police or fire incident to authorities.

Users of the ACES app also will be able to receive alerts and set up an “I’m OK” emergency notifier.

Users can receive information on traffic, power outages, local weather, preparedness guidance, and emergency shelter locations under the app, which will also provide a list of EMS agencies.

Public safety officials stressed that people should always call 911 first if they can when they have an emergency since “it is still the best way to get assistance,” they said.

The free app is available for both iPhone and Android devices.
