The Regional Learning Alliance at Cranberry Woods,

850 Cranberry Woods Drive, Cranberry, will host a workshop, Compression Planning Advantage, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 6-8.

The program focuses on compression planning, which combines creative brainstorming and storyboarding to help make better decisions more quickly. It's the first planning technology of its kind used by major companies, such as Walt Disney World.

The alliance also will conduct FastTrac Growth Venture, a 10-week Kauffman Foundation program, beginning tomorrow to assist entrepreneurs in evaluating their business framework and determining changes needed to improve performance and growth.

The Rotary Club of Butler has presented Lifesteps, a local nonprofit agency, with more than $8,800, including $4,790 from the sale of tickets for its annual Election Day Rotary Pancake Festival.

Nearly 1,300 people were served pancakes Nov. 6 at the Vagabond Center in Lyndora.

The proceeds benefit Lifesteps' Family Caring Fund, which supports programs and services for children and special needs adults.

Services include free child development screenings from birth to age 5, developmental preschool, integrated child care, a medically monitored day program for older adults and programs and services for adults with mental retardation.

The Cranberry Area Chamber of Commerce was able to raise $2,870 during its recent Phone Card/Gift Card drive.

The proceeds were donated to Glade Run Lutheran Services, Mars Home for Youth and Victim Outreach Intervention Center.

• The Oversight Committee for the Butler County Emergency Relief Initiative received $1,000 from the Rotary Club of Butler.

The relief initiative was formed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to assist evacuees migrating to Butler County and to respond to rising fuel prices as a result of havoc along the Gulf Coast. The organization is made up of volunteers, with all funding raised going directly to client aid.
