Police are investigating after one woman was killed and a man was hurt in a two-vehicle accident early Monday in Penn Hills.

Authorities responded just after 5 a.m. to the scene of the accident at the intersection of Saltsburg Road and Sycamore Drive. A woman, who drove a Nissan Rogue, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male driver of a Hummer H3 was taken to a local hospital with a broken ankle, fire officials said.

Captain Tom Kutcher of the Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Department said no other individuals were in the vehicles. Penn Hills police are investigating the cause of the accident.
