Penn Hills School District alerts parents of bear sighting in neighborhood

Penn Hills School District alerted parents Tuesday night of a bear spotted in the area, warning parents to meet their kids at bus stops.

In an email obtained by the Post-Gazette, Kristin Brown, building principal for Penn Hills Elementary School, said the district had been notified of a single bear sighting near the McDonald’s on Frankstown Road.

A video circulated on social media shows a bear running around a fence near the parking lot of the McDonald’s.
