Port Authority announced the driver involved in the fatal bus crash on Saturday in Oakland will not be driving until investigations are completed.
Barbara Como, of Chester Springs, Pa., was at the intersection of DeSoto Street and Fifth Avenue when a Port Authority Route 83 bus traveling inbound struck her shortly before noon. Pittsburgh police put the time at 12:25 p.m. Ms. Como, 20, was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where she later died at 2 p.m. According to university authorities, Ms. Como studied anthropology and psychology and was on track to graduate this spring.
“Everyone at Port Authority is deeply saddened by the tragic event that claimed the life of Barbara Como on Saturday afternoon,” said the Port Authority statement. “Our heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to her family and friends.”
In the statement, Port Authority also said the operator involved in the incident “will not be driving until the completion of the ongoing investigations” by Pittsburgh Police and Port Authority.
