PWSA lifts boil water advisory in Hazelwood, Swisshelm Park and Greenfield

A boil water advisory that has been in place since Saturday for portions of Hazelwood, Swisshelm Park and Greenfield has been lifted, the Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority announced Monday.

The advisory, which was issued as a precaution after a 16-inch water main broke at the Duck Hollow Trail, was lifted after a second test failed to show any evidence of contamination, according to the PWSA.

For customers using their water for the first time since the advisory was issued, the authority recommends running the taps for at least one minute before using it for cooking or drinking.

"This helps remove stagnant water from plumbing and brings in fresh water from water mains," the PWSA said in a statement.
