The family of Cecil and David Rosenthal placed a full-page advertisement in Sunday's edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette urging people to perform random acts of kindness for strangers.
The brothers, who died in the mass shooting on Oct. 27 at Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill, left a legacy of "love, kindness and acceptance," the ad said.
The ad included a portrait of Cecil, 59, and David, 54, drawn by Robert Hoglund and two "Random Acts of Kindness" coupons that could be cut out and given to strangers.
"Be committed to making your community a better place, and make a stranger's day," the cards say. "Be creative. Be passionate. Be stronger than hate."
The family also thanked the community for showing support after the massacre that left 11 people dead, including the brothers.
"The entire Rosenthal family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks and gratitude to the Pittsburgh community and around the world for your outpouring of support and kindness," it said. "Your thoughts, prayers, and kind gestures have given us the strength to get through this difficult time.
The family also encouraged readers to join the “Love Like the ‘Boys’” Facebook group to share stories of kindness.
