A Pittsburgh defense attorney will stand trial for driving under the influence and reckless driving.
Wendy L. Williams, 56, address unknown, was charged in February after she was pulled over by an East McKeesport police officer in Monroeville at 4 a.m. on Feb. 3.
During a preliminary hearing Thursday, District Judge Thomas Caulfield held charges of driving under the influence, driving on the right side of the highway, and careless driving for court. He dismissed a charge of drug possession.
Officer Erin Mansfield wrote in a criminal complaint that she pulled Ms. Williams over after seeing that her 2009 Hummer truck was facing oncoming traffic on Mosside Boulevard on the bridge near Wall Avenue. She said Ms. Williams smelled of alcohol and slurred her speech.
Ms. Williams agreed to a series of field sobriety tests, all of which showed signs of impairment, the complaint said.
Police towed her car and discovered about 30 pills of Phentermine, a controlled substance, in her center console. They did not find a prescription for those pills, which were in loose punch cards, according to the complaint.
Ms. Williams’ attorney, Carl A. Parise, said she will continue to practice.
