Marshall-Shadeland man found guilty of first-degree murder

A Marshall-Shadeland man will spend the rest of his life in prison with no chance for parole after a jury found him guilty Thursday of first-degree murder.

He was accused of killing Dontae Thompson, 27, on April 1, 2016.

Police said Mr. Thompson was driving an SUV on Henderson Street in Fineview about 9:30 a.m. when Branch-Samuels pulled up in a car next to him and shot him several times.

Surveillance video from various cameras in multiple neighborhoods was able to track Branch-Samuels' movements from the shooting scene to the Hill District where he was seen parking the car less than an hour later.

Branch-Samuels was also found guilty of firearms counts and tampering with evidence.
