31st Street Bridge work may cause delays today

31st Street Bridge work may cause delays today

Repair work on the back span of the 31st Street Bridge will continue today, causing restrictions and possible delays on the bridge and nearby Route 28.

A short-term lane closure will occur on the eastbound side of the bridge (traveling from Route 28 toward Lawrenceville) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Some delays also may occur on Route 28. Flag crews will control traffic movements.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crews will make floor-beam repairs on the span of the bridge over the back channel of the Allegheny River. That section of the 31st Street Bridge was not included in the rehabilitation project completed in 2007.
