City firefighters injured

Two Pittsburgh firefighters were injured as they battled a three-alarm blaze yesterday morning in Garfield.

Scott Lees and Garrett Meade of Engine Co. 6 in Lawrenceville were treated at area hospitals and released, fire Chief Peter Micheli Jr. said yesterday.

The fire in the 5000 block of Dearborn Street broke out at midnight in a third-floor bedroom and caused $20,000 in damage.

The Pittsburgh Fire Bureau said the blaze was accidental and caused by a candle.

Lees hurt his ankle after falling from a ladder that shifted. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian.

Meade's neck was injured when debris fell on him. He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital.
