Police say a man is in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian after falling 90 feet down an elevator shaft in North Oakland yesterday morning.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. at the King Edward apartment building on Bayard Street, according to KDKA-TV.
The unidentified man, a 24-year-old University of Pittsburgh law student, is believed to have stepped inside the shaft after prying open the doors to the freight elevator on the roof of the building. He fell, and may have become entangled in some of the cables.

Police told KDKA the victim was drinking before the accident.
