Summer Safari: Live Wild

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium’s annual Summer Safari in Highland Park, was a walk on the wild side for more than 1,000 partygoers who came out to support the zoo and its conservation efforts. “We are just huge animal lovers and the work the zoo does is just amazing,” said co-chair Anita Moran, who has been actively involved with the zoo for 15 years. “We get inspired to continue our involvement because of the people behind the scenes like Emily Beyer, who help to keep this place running. The team here is phenomenal and the zoo is an important part of conservation and educating people about these beautiful animals,” added co-chair Joe Moran as they paused to pose for a photo with a friendly sea lion. Sea lions weren’t the only creatures ready to mingle, as guests enjoyed getting to know (the cutest!) fox, a Colombian red tail boa and many others before enjoying the rest of the exhibits throughout the night. There were also food stations and entertainment by DJ Mike Mason and Radio Tokyo. And who knew the zoo was a place for falling in love? Four years ago, Jordyn and Joe Bauman attended the Summer Safari as their first date. They are now married and expecting a child. They have been back every year since. The event raised more than $130,000.
