Women's Board of Pittsburgh Luncheon

The Place: The Fox Chapel Golf Club, Friday.

The Party: The Women’s Board of Pittsburgh’s annual luncheon “Lighting the Way Through Pittsburgh,” featuring a cooking demonstration by the executive chef of the Carnegie Museum Properties, Douglas Genovese, drew a sold-out crowd of 300 guests.  “This is the largest audience we have ever had for this luncheon,” said event chair Dotti Bechtol.  Each year a different organization is chosen to be the beneficiary. This year was the Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition. “We are thrilled and honored to be the beneficiary, and the resources are going directly to families and caregivers of children with life-limiting illnesses,” said Betsy Haley, coalition director.  WTAE-TV’s Andrew Stockey emceed, giving the play by play as the chef whipped up a pate de campagne, a roasted butternut squash salad, roasted breast of chicken with crisp wild mushrooms and leeks, confit potatoes and finally dark chocolate ganache tart.  All was served for lunch. Board president Debbie Burke noted that “The Women’s Board of Pittsburgh’s sole purpose has been to promote local organizations dedicated to the welfare of children.”  It has raised $655,000 since it was founded in 1991.

The People: Savoring an afternoon of sunshine and socializing were next year’s luncheon chairs Susan Boyle and Sandy McInerney, this year’s decoration chairs Candi Eisengart and her daughter Sage, auction chairs Carrie Leemhuis, Karen Slevin, Lisa Bowden and Julianne Fallert and other committee members Laura Dawson, Linda Thier, Paula Lockhart, Laurin Moore, Lynn Thompson, Janet Bronder, Mary Boyle, Gretchen Gockley, Nicki Ubinger, Missy Tambellini, Kim Gordon, Sandy Woncheck and Andrea Fako. Other guests included Betsy Teti, Kim Cavalcante, Heather Dressman, Kim Bartolacci, Sara Horsman, Mardi Royston and Christine Ferguson.
