'Jeans & Jewels' event raises funds for Cancer Caring Center

The Place: Rooftop of Left Field Meeting Space, 116 Federal St., North Shore, Thursday evening.

The Purpose: To benefit the Cancer Caring Center programs that support patients and families dealing with this disease.

The Party: The 11th annual Jeans & Jewels was a true summer celebration, featuring honorary chairs and former Steeler Chris Hoke and his wife Jaimee. The Hokes mingled, and he signed programs as guests checked out the silent auction and ticket auction during the VIP reception. The signature cocktail was called the Hokeanut, a virgin pina colada (the Hokes are Mormons and don’t drink). For those who did imbibe, there was wine and beer and an ample buffet provided by 17 local restaurants. A raffle, live music, drinks and more rounded out the perfect party. Nearly 175 guests enjoyed the views overlooking PNC Park and the North Shore. Event chair Jeff Leonard greeted supporters as they came off the elevator into the awesome soiree space. His mother Bette and brother Joe came in from Moscow, Pa.
