Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's topping out ceremony held on Wednesday

When and where: Wednesday afternoon at the Byham Center for Dance at the Pittsburgh Ballet Studios in the Strip District.

#EnPointe: Dancers, students, staff and supporters gathered outside PBT studios as the final steel beam was hoisted into place on the Byham Center for Dance. Slated to open in fall 2016, the new studio annex will open the doors to more aspiring ballet students — who come from across the country and world — and make PBT more accessible to the broader community. Guests signed the beam before the team from Jendoco Construction Corp. and Lincoln Fabrication lifted it skyward. Afterward, the party moved inside for a private reception and studio rehearsal of company dancers including PBT School alumni Diana Yohe and Corey Bourbonniere performing the famous Sugar Plum Fairy Pas de Deux.

#SEEN: Campaign co-chairs Carolyn and Bill Byham, for whom the new studio annex will be named; campaign co-chairs Dawn and Chris Fleischner, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh Councilwoman Deb Gross, Mary Anne Papale, Anita Stec, and PBT trustees including Shelley and Jim Taylor, Mark Popovich, David Tuthill, Dona and Tom Hotopp, Douglas Kreps and chairman Michael LaRocco.
