Braddock feast benefits Braddock Farms

#BraddockBeautiful: Grow Braddock’s inaugural event to support Braddock Farms welcomed close to 800 partygoers on Sept. 27 as they took a tour through the gardens, enjoyed foods from around the Pittsburgh area such as Habitat’s butternut squash soup, Braddock Community Bread Oven’s fresh-baked pretzels served with E2 sauces, Millie’s basil nectarine sorbet and Superior Motor’s sumac-glazed short ribs (just to name a few), while enjoying music like the Beagle Brothers and art from Unsmoke Systems Artspace.

“We wanted everyone to experience all that Braddock has to offer. We love this place and are happy to be a part of something so positive,” said Theresa Kaufman, event planner. Energy was high as the community came together to try craft cocktails from Bar Marco and brews from The Brew Gentlemen, among others.

Event designers also got into the mix, setting up tables influenced by Braddock’s sights, sounds and people. Perfectly Planned by Shari created a table inspired by Gisele Fetterman’s Free Store, complete with a children’s bike as the centerpiece (which was donated to the store, as well as all the other goodies on the table). Gemini Pandya of Farmhouse Flowers Studio, Allison McGeary and Martin Potoczny of Luxe Creative were also among those who created table designs to celebrate the community.

Mayor John Fetterman, whose backyard was party central for folks meandering through the event that spanned several blocks from the garden to his home, said that he was so proud to be a part of something so meaningful. “It just means so much to have the support of everyone showcasing the best of Braddock.”
