Kennywood Park is replacing Thomas Town

There’s a new thematic area coming to Kennywood Park this year.

The themed area will feature five rides that “families with young kids and generations of park fans can enjoy together,” according to a statement from the West Mifflin amusement park.

The new installation will take the place of Thomas Town, which has been a fixture at the Park since July 2018. Thomas Town featured five rides, including a train ride with Thomas himself, a live stage show, entertainment areas, a retail store and a themed play.

Kennywood said they are “thankful for the collaboration with the Thomas & Friends brand and Mattel and looking forward to future opportunities for collaboration.”

Kennywood communications director Lynsey Winters said the five rides currently in Thomas Town won’t be replaced, just re-themed along with the rest of the area.

Kennywood Park officials indicated more information about the re-themed area, including ride names, will be made available soon.

Opening day for the amusement park is set for April 12.
