Lake Erie and tributaries (Erie County) Independent walleye anglers reported hookups on evenings in shoreline shallows. Another walleye party scored in 55 feet of water shortly before sunset between Shades and Shorewood beaches near North East, where the catch included three fat 27-inchers. The hot lures were small watermelon Bayrat spoons with Dipsy Divers set at 106 feet and locked on the No. 3 setting. Lake trout were still being caught off North East, and yellow perch were taken in 50-55 feet of water. Spawning bass remained in the streams and bay. Good fishing weather was expected over Erie through the weekend with partly cloudy skies, Saturday-Sunday afternoon temperatures under 75 degrees and a walleye chop of under 1 foot.
