Lake Erie tributaries (Erie County) Good numbers of steelhead were visible on westside streams. Elk Creek was stained with a good flow Thursday, conditions conducive to dead drifting egg sacs, spinners and jigs as well as egg patterns and Wooly Buggers. Before heading north on I-79, check the weather and water gauges. Rising streams following rain were expected to result in ideal steelheading early Saturday. Temperatures could reach the mid-60s by midmorning, but fly anglers should note that southwest winds could gust to more than 50 mph. Continued showers throughout Saturday could prolong the run or result in blowouts on smaller streams, particularly east of the peninsula. Partly cloudy skies and temperatures up to 43 degrees forecast for Sunday.
