Two days before his 20th birthday, Jake Krinock of Latrobe was on the ice with his dad, Andy Krinock, at Twin Lakes in Greensburg. By about 2 p.m. Sunday, they had four nice rainbow trout taken on tip-ups and rods baited with 1-inch shiners.
“The rainbows seem to be swimming together in a big circle and we’re getting hits at intervals of about 45 minutes,” said the Indiana University of Pennsylvania student.
“This is what he wanted to do for his birthday,” said his father. “The ice is barely 4 inches, but it’s clear and solid and there are a lot of people on the upper lake. Everyone’s catching fish.”
