225 years in, Washington County Agricultural Fair is going strong

The Washington County Agricultural Fair, which runs Aug. 12-19, will open with a parade at 2 p.m. Sunday.

To celebrate its 225th anniversary, special events will include the 225th Memorial Plaza, which will feature fair history, commemorative images and commemorative personalized pavers. Other historical touches include an anniversary mural and an antique truck and tractor exhibit.

The fair will have more than 2,000 animals, 2,600 agricultural exhibits and 6,600 youth and craft exhibits. Highlights include farm animals and 4-H shows, food, carnival rides, concerts and demolition derbies.

Daily events: Rock N Roll Pet Kids Show, Magic 4U Show (starting Monday), petting zoo.

Concerts: Russell Dickerson (Aug. 13); Aaron Margaria (Aug. 14); Let’s Groove Tonight: Earth, Wind & Fire tribute (Aug. 15); Ruff Creek (Aug. 16); Joey Adams (Aug. 17); Six Gun Sally/Stoney’s Pure Honest Band (Aug. 18) and Marcus Tyler Band (Aug. 19).

Grandstand: demolition derby (Aug. 12); horse and pony pull (Aug. 13); Pro Stock Tractors/Hot Semis (Aug. 14); Motocross (Aug. 15); school bus demolition derby (Aug. 16); KOI Drag Racing (Aug. 17); demolition derby (Aug. 18); Street Stock Trucks (Aug. 19).

Details: 2151 N. Main St., Washington; admission $10 includes shows, entertainment and parking; 12 and under, $5. Hours: 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Rides open at 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 1-11 p.m. all other days.
