Multimedia Photojournalist Nate Guidry

As visual journalists, we are tasked with photographing many different assignments over the course of a year, from fires and funerals to news conferences and kids flying kites in the park.

But one event I had never covered was the union of same-sex couples. On June 15, Mayor William Peduto officiated at the marriage of 19 couples at the City-County Building. Some of the participants had waited years for this day, and it was truly an honor and a privilege to be there to share it with them.
