Is fall fueling your appetite for some iconic, stick-to-your-ribs Pittsburgh foods?
The folks at YaJagoff! have your back (and stomach), with a food event this weekend featuring some “Norside nosh, a Sahside staple side dish and ma dash of sweetness a’la McKees Rocks.”
On Oct. 1, the weekly podcast helmed by John Chamberlin and Rachael Rennebeck is teaming up with The Kitchen by Vangura to create a meal with a “Yinzer charcuterie” theme at the cooking school’s demonstration kitchen in North Huntingdon.
The four-course dinner will cover all the classics, with a menu that includes city chicken, pierogies and haluska (cabbage and noodles) from The Ugly Dumpling in Carnegie and Ernie Ricci’s Italian sausage on a Mancini’s bun. Attendees also will enjoy two iconic Pittsburgh desserts: Jenny Lee cinnamon swirl bread topped with ice cream and Mary Mac Bakehouse’s strawberry Jell-O pretzel salad cookies. North Country Brewing Company is providing the beer.
The event, which runs from 6-9 p.m. at 14451 Vangura Lane, will also feature entertainment from singer and chef/restauranteur Jack Hunt of Atria’s, who will tell stories about his decades-long gig as the former frontman of the doo-wop band Johnny Angel and the Halos.
Tickets cost $65 and can be purchased at thekitchenbyvangura.com.
