TIckets went on sale tonight — for $40 per person — for the official kickoff of the crowdfunding effort to build a national beer museum in Pittsburgh.
The team behind Brew: The Museum of Beer will be in attendance from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy on Foreland Street on the North Side. So will other proponents of what's being billed as a first-day tourist attraction on par with Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The $40 admission includes your chance to ask them questions and otherwise learn about the project, as well as sample food and beers from area brewpubs.
Also that day, the team will start raising money for the museum on Indiegogo.com. Organizers say the self-sustaining museum, with its own hall of fame and brewpub, could open in winter 2017 or spring 2018.
Matt Sherwin, a member of the team behind the effort, says ticket sales will be limited to 300. For tickets and more, go here.
