Shop Holiday: Gifts for Pittsburgh sports fans

Here are a few quirky, off-the-beaten-path gift ideas for the Pittsburgh sports fan in your life.

Steelers nation mourned the sudden death of wide receivers coach Darryl Drake just weeks before the season began. To honor his legacy, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster began selling items with his favorite motivational catchphrases — “Shut out the noise” and “Never choose good when great is available” — on his official website, teamJuJu.com with all proceeds going to Drake’s family. You can buy a Coach Drake T-shirt for $25 or a wristband set for $10.

Any holiday celebration generally involves copious amounts of food, so what better way to prepare that feast than with some Steelers steak knives. A set of four is available for $15.99 from Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The coolest thing to happen to Pitt football in a long time was upsetting UCF on Sept. 21, a game that was capped by the now-legendary “Pitt special.” Of course, there’s a T-shirt to commemorate the big win. $23.95 at shoppittpanthers.com.

Because the Pirates aren’t particularly exciting currently and 2019 is the 40th anniversary of the 1979 World Series-winning team, go nostalgic with a Willie Stargell jersey. Grab a replica of his Cooperstown jersey for $90 at Rally House on the North Shore or rallyhouse.com.

Remember the portrait of Phil Kessel painted by local artist Cody Sabol that was in his Pittsburgh home? Copies of that painting are on sale for $575 at Sabol’s Etsy store.

Who doesn’t enjoy a rousing game of cornhole? Your favorite avid tailgater would probably love this Penguins-themed cornhole set available for $99.99 via Dick’s Sporting Goods.
