Starting this week, the crowded Pittsburgh beer market gets the beers of BrewDog USA, the Columbus, Ohio-based arm of the punkish United Kingdom brewer. Attached to that brewery and DogWalk restaurant is the new DogHouse hotel, which offers guests a shower beer fridge in every bathroom.
It launched Monday night at the four Caliente Pizza & Draft House locations, but events happen every night this week across town. Brian Jones, who manages this territory for BrewDog, says the events will feature different combinations of seven beers, including Punk IPA and grapefruit-infused Elvis Juice.
I'll be on the lookout for one of the limited pours: The red ale named 5 A.M. Saint, for those BrewDog brewers who used to arrive at the original Fraserburgh, Scotland, brewery for their morning shifts with bacon rolls and other sustenance for the brewers who were finishing up for the day.
