Known for a fun and funky atmosphere, outdoor seating, a cheekily written menu and the massively popular Tuesday “Bacon Night” promotion, the Harris Grill will close its Downtown location next week, per a post on the business’s social media platforms.
“With heavy hearts, we are announcing the permanent closure of Harris Grill Fourth Avenue. Our last night of service will be Thursday December 30, 2021. Owners Rodney Swartz, Alex & Dana Fruzynski, Amy Kluczkowskii & Leslie Donovan encourage all customers to visit downtown one last time for the final Tuesday is Bacon Night on December 28th, one last frozen cosmo, or one final Henny Penny or Macaroni and Cheese.
“We appreciate all of our customers who have supported us over the years and will miss having this space to welcome them. May we meet again in the future.”
A sibling establishment, the Shiloh Grill on Mount Washington, closed in August 2020. At that time, nearly all of the Shiloh employees were absorbed into the Downtown location.
The original Harris Grill in Shadyside, which opened in the early 1960s at 5747 Ellsworth Ave., has been closed since February 2019 when an electrical fire gutted the interior.
Its status is up in the air. A commenter on the business’s Instagram page asked if the Shadyside location would reopen.
The response: “We are unsure at this time.”
