Oishii Bistro on Oakland Avenue in Oakland was hit with a consumer alert by the Allegheny County Health Department because of multiple health code violations.
Some of the problems included holding food at unsafe temperatures, improper cooling procedures, inadequate cleaning and sanitization, and bare hand contact with ready-to-eat food.
“Facility does not have adequate refrigeration or hot holding for the size and scope of their menu,” an inspector noted in the inspection report. “Most refrigerators and freezers are full. Currently pans of hot foods are sitting out on the prep area until they are ready to be delivered (instead of being held at proper temperatures).
“Facility needs to limit the size/scope of their menu and discontinue catering orders given their current lack of space.”
In all, the inspector recorded 17 food safety violations, plus 22 violations in an inspection done the previous week, according to the reports.
The owner declined comment.
The health department also cleared Asian House on Hoffman Boulevard in West Mifflin to reopen after water service was restored. The restaurant had been shut down because of a lack of water.
