Toomey's campaign war chest surpasses democratic challenger

U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., out-fundraised his Democratic challenger during the last three months, according to figures his campaign released this evening, ahead of its official filing due to the Federal Election Commission Oct. 15.

The Toomey for Senate Campaign itself raised $5 million while affiliated political action committees -- the Toomey Pennsylvania Victory Fund and the Toomey Victory Committee – raised another $1.124 million, the campaign said.

That brings total fundraising to $28.3 million this election cycle.

“Pat Toomey is grateful for the overwhelming generosity from every corner of the commonwealth,” spokesman Ted Kwong said. “There is clearly strong support for Pat Toomey’s independent leadership in Washington to grow the economy and keep Pennsylvanians safe.”

Democrat Katie McGinty previously disclosed that she raised $5.2 million in the last quarter, bringing her total for the cycle to $13 million.
