The Container Store coming to Pittsburgh

The Container Store officially announced it is opening its first location in the Pittsburgh area this fall at The Block Northway, the former Shoppes at Northway shopping center being redeveloped along McKnight Road in Ross.

The 24,000-square-foot store — which specializes in storage and organization products for closets, the kitchen, office, laundry and more — is scheduled to open Oct. 8 and will employ about 45 people.

Founded in 1978 in Dallas, The Container Store currently operates 82 locations nationwide, including a store in King of Prussia near Philadelphia.

The company said 10 percent of sales during the grand opening weekend in Pittsburgh will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh.
