Highmark IT solutions company sheds 239 workers

HM Health Solutions, Highmark’s information technology company, furloughed 239 people this week, including 132 in Pittsburgh.

The jobs impacted were in the platform & technology, portfolio management and customer operations organizations in Camp Hill, Wilkes Barre and elsewhere, according to Highmark spokeswoman Lynn Seay. Eligible employees who were affected by the downsizing received severance packages or the opportunity to work elsewhere at Highmark.

In addition to the positions in Pittsburgh, HM Health Solutions cut 74 employees at offices in Camp Hill; 11 in the state of Delaware; five in Wilkes Barre; as well as 17 remote site workers.

“While this was a difficult decision, it was made with the best long-term interest of our employees and customers,” Ms. Seay said in a statement.

HM Health Solutions has grown from 2,020 employees to 3,286 employees since March 2014, which included a doubling of employees in the Pittsburgh office.
