A consumer alert was posted by the Allegheny County Health Department at Spoon/BRGR in East Liberty last week because of numerous health code violations.
Some of the problems at the Highland Avenue eatery included inadequate refrigeration, inadequate sanitization of utensils and equipment, presence of insects, inadequate wastewater disposal and use of a vacuum packaging machine without approval.
The alert was removed the next day when most of the problems were fixed.
The operator of the facility couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Also last week, the health department shut down a mobile food stand near Gibsonia Road in West Deer operated by Keith Janssen Catering for opening without a valid health permit or proper equipment.
Inspection reports for food facilities in the county are available online here.
