The East End development boom shows no signs of fading, with another major mixed use project being proposed on Centre Avenue in East Liberty.
Denver-based Charles Street Investment Partners is pitching a six-story mixed use development at 5803 Centre that will include 170 residential units and 8,000 square feet of commercial space.
Charles Street will brief the city planning commission on the project Tuesday.
As part of the redevelopment, an existing warehouse at the site would be demolished, said Kate Rakus, principal planner, zoning and development review for the city planning department.
According to the Charles Street application, the 170 residential units would be built above a mixed level of commercial and residential amenity space and at-grade parking.
Another 156 spaces would be part of an underground garage. The developer also is proposing 68 bicycle spaces.
Jason Pollack, who is listed as the contact for Charles Street Investment Partners on the application, could not be reached for comment.
The 216,750-square-foot development also would include multiple terraces for community and private use as well as an indoor pool and lounge.
No cost estimate was available for the project, which would be located a few blocks from the Whole Foods Market in East Liberty. No other information was available Thursday.
Last week, the planning commission approved another East Liberty project — the controversial $50 million Penn Plaza redevelopment on Penn Avenue that will feature 246,090 square feet of office, 54,600 square feet of retail, and 672 parking spaces.
That development is at the site of the former Penn Plaza apartment complex, where more than 200 residents were displaced to clear the way for the project, sparking community protests.
While there is no residential in the Penn Plaza plan, the development is expected to generate $2.1 million for affordable housing within three quarters of a mile of the site.
