Gov. Ed Rendell, the state Department of Community and Economic Development and five Pennsylvania business journals said Nancy L. Bromall, shareholder, Schneider Downs, was named one of Pennsylvania's Best 50 Women in Business.

The American Board of Certification said James H. Joseph, attorney, Spilman Thomas & Battle, has completed the requirements for national certification in business bankruptcy law. He is counsel in the firm's Pittsburgh office, practicing commercial bankruptcy and creditors' rights.

Tube City IMS Corp. said its IMS Division operation in Cayce, S.C., has earned the Palmetto Safety Excellence Award from the South Carolina Occupational Safety Council for its outstanding 2006 safety performance. The award was presented to the site for having the lowest Occupational Safety and Health Administration Recordable Incidence Rate.

Hill, Barth & King LLC noted the completion of the CPA exam by Damon Willison. He has extensive public accounting experience and provides accounting, auditing and tax services to various industries.

Susan M. Brimo-Cox, principal/owner of Brimo-Cox Communications L.L.C., received a first-place award in the 2007 Communications Contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania Press Club. She received the award in the Personal Column, Specialized category for her gardening column Nature's Garden, which she has been writing since 2004. The PPC is the Pennsylvania affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women.

The Million Dollar Advocates Forum said attorney Douglas Leonard Price was certified as a member. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum is recognized as the most prestigious group of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million- and multimillion-dollar verdicts, awards and settlements.

Lois Bradley, president and CEO, The Bradley Partnerships Inc., was awarded Arcadia Businesswoman of the Year by the Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce at Treesdale Country Club. The Arcadia award recognizes a business person who exemplifies community service, professionalism and leadership in northern Allegheny County.

Michael Baker Corp. said Maher A. Sidani, vice president and operations manager, was named 2006 Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers Central Jersey Branch.

Kathryn Stevens, president, Stevens Consulting Inc., was accredited by the Institute for Independent Business. Her recent accreditation will expand local business access to the Institute's network of more than 4,000 experienced accredited associates.

Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Inc. was named one of the top 500 design firms in the United States, according to Engineering News-Record magazine. This list is compiled annually based on the revenue earned by engineering and architectural firms from design services performed in the preceding year.
