Robber fails to make withdrawal from Cranberry bank

A would-be robber tried to hold up a bank in Cranberry this morning, but he fled empty-handed, police said.

The man entered the National City Bank branch on Route 19 in Cranberry Mall at 10:38 a.m.

He approached a teller and several times demanded money.

When the cash was not immediately given, the man left the bank and fled.

He is described as a white male in his mid-20s, standing 5-feet, 7-inches or 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. The suspect has reddish-blond scruffy facial hair. He also wore a tan and brown ball cap with the letters "DC," with sunglasses resting on top of the cap.

A blue hooded sweatshirt with the name "Dickies" was worn over a red T-shirt, and he wore blue pants.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Cranberry police at 724-776-5180, ext. 5.
