Remember the time Mister Rogers showed how crayons were made? It’s worth a tune-in to WQED’s family night viewing party Thursday to revisit a particularly soothing and colorful adventure.
Three classic episodes of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” will broadcast beginning at 7:30 with 1981’s “How People Make Crayons.”
Factory tours, no matter the era, are always fascinating, and the episode reminds kids that drawing is a helpful way to express their feelings.
At 8 p.m., world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma drops by for a 1985 visit that also shows how violins are made. Ma was a longtime friend of Fred Rogers, and his son, Nicholas Ma, was a producer for the Morgan Neville documentary, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”
A third episode, 1982’s “Musical Games,” airs at 8:30 p.m.
Of course there will be @YoYo_Ma! What kind of Mister Rogers' WQED Family Movie Night Viewing Party would it be if it didn't include making bass violins with everyone's favorite cellist? JOIN US 1 WEEK FROM TONIGHT! (7:30PM-9PM) https://t.co/fiMmpAQJf9 #StayHomeWithWQED pic.twitter.com/e5PTRW5du5

The public television station suggests viewers at home wear their nicest cardigans and post #StayHomewithWQED, #CardigansAtHome or #AtHomeWithMrRogers selfies.
Kids “of any age” could win a jumbo box of Crayola crayons in a raffle by posting drawings to #CardigansAtHome.
Fans of Fred Rogers Productions ‘ “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” also will be able to access new music from the show, per a worldwide partnership with Warner Music Group’s Arts Music division.
Songs from the past four seasons of the show will be immediately available across digital services and new music from the upcoming season will be added to the catalog.
“Music has always been a key part of ‘Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,’ ” said Paul Siefken, FRP president and CEO. “It’s what helps make the parenting strategies featured in each episode of the series so effective and useful for preschoolers and families in their everyday lives.”
