The Showtime series “Rust” is holding an open casting call in Pittsburgh Sunday March 1 for paid background actors.
The open call at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. is for “all ages and ethnicities, no experience necessary.” In addition, movieextraspittsburgh.com says extras will portray: “small-town locals, business and blue-collar types, bar patrons, college football players, cops, wedding guests, and other various roles.”
Due to begin filming in the spring, the 10-episode first season stars Jeff Daniels as Del Harris, chief of police in a southwestern Pennsylvania rust-belt town. When his girlfriend’s son is accused of murder, Harris must decide how far he will go to protect the accused.
An FAQ on the website says hopefuls can show up anytime within the hours given. Bringing a photo and/or resume is not a requirement, although ”we will gladly take it! Otherwise just arrive nice and tidy, ready for a photo and with a pen handy to fill out a paper about yourself! :) Super easy!”
