BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — ABC’s “American Idol” will return to Pittsburgh as part of a 22-city cross-country audition tour.
The Pittsburgh stop is slated for Sept. 7 but a venue has not been determined.
Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will return as judges — and Bobby Bones as in-house mentor — for the new season that’s expected to air in 2020.
“Idol” previously held auditions in Pittsburgh in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017. Auditions are open to legal U.S. residents who were between the ages of 15 and 28 on June 1, 2019.
In addition to in-person auditions, would-be Idols can submit auditions online at www.americanidol.com/auditions or by posting videos to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #TheNextIdol.
In other ABC music news, Mariah Carey will write, produce and record “In the Mix,” the theme song for “mixed-ish,” the prequel comedy to ABC’s “black-ish” debuting Sept. 24.
